Every Easter I’m transported back to the kids table at my Mommom’s house. Sipping slowly a red wine spritzer, making eye contact with my cousins thinking we’re getting a “buzz”. Eating the most delicious traditional Italian food in gluttony until the ribbons on our Easter dresses had to be undone. Feeling the feelings of love and family, and celebration of just LIFE. Of the little things that are the big things. The important things. Love. Gratitude. Family. Togetherness and we’re Italian so… food.
Even as adults, as my cousins and I still sit together, now the kiddie table being a little taller and squished in with our bigger bodies, I catch the twinkle in all of our eyes replaying those happy memories of our Mommom’s house that will never leave our hearts. This is the reason why this day and holiday is so special to me and it’s because of my nostalgia, that I usually opt to wear something vintage that fills me with the spirit of my grandparents, and all of my older, beautiful, happy memories of my past but still makes me feel “A New” and presently polished.
Vintage can be a classic. A lot of it IS actually classic. If you Shop for What Pops for silhouettes and womanly shapes of vintage, there are some serious Zipfactor pieces out there that always make me think of my grandparents in their day and how they were always fitted and dressed. Always polished. No sweatpants, no joggers, no hoodies, nothing baggy and barely jeans. They were dressed and zipped in clothing that had class, structure, and style! The Marilyn poses, the Liz Taylor stares, the polish of Audrey all being the inspiration of their day and I’m obsessed with it! So that’s why this Easter, I’ll be wearing my $14 vintage lace Impact Thift find and 80’s inspired vintage earrings that were a buck to the Easter table. I’ve also added my Via Spiga teal heels from DSW that I got for under $30 and 80% off the original retail price of $225!
What will you be wearing to make memories in Gals? What pieces will make you feel “A New” yet nostalgic and special?
What ever you wear, remember you don’t have to be perfect… You just have to be polished!
Happy Easter Gal Pals!
